Raise a quotation, send it, and turn it into a sale or a purchase when the customer agrees.

The Reference is generated when you save and cannot be typed, and a quotation is always stamped with the moment it is saved rather than backdated.
A quotation is an offer, not a movement. Nothing here checks or changes stock, and a quantity above what the warehouse holds is allowed on purpose.
Saving with the status Sent emails the quotation to the customer. Saving a Sent quotation again sends it again. If you are only correcting a typo, be aware the customer gets a second email.
Use Create Sale or Create Purchase from the row menu. Either one opens the matching form with the customer, the warehouse, the biller and every line already filled in. Press Open the form, check it, and submit there. Nothing is saved until you do.
Nothing records that a sale came from a quotation, and the quotation is not marked afterwards. Converting the same quotation twice sells the same goods twice, so keep track of which ones you have already turned into sales.
On a purchase, combo, digital and service lines are left out. Check the totals before you submit.

A sale return refunds and restocks. An exchange does both halves on one document. Here is which to reach for.
